Replacing brakepads in your handbrake
(only SJ 410/413)

To change the pads you first have to remove the rear driveshaft
To your right you see the drum side.
As any driveshaft it is secured with 4 nuts and bolts.

Brakedrum and shaft

Reardif
on the other side as I said before, also 4 nuts and bolts
In the midle of the drum you'll see a large nut. It will be hard to turn.
The reason why? It is locked!
Just undo the dents in the nut with a pick or screwdriver, works like a charm.
While you unbolt you might want to put the T-case in 4 low and ask someone to hold the brakes, if you can unbolt while the handbrake is on, it is not neccessary to replace the pads ;)

Drum open

This is what it looks like if you take off the drum. Just undo the springs and pins and the pads come off

Before you put in the new pads make sure you return the adjustible cup to the minimum, otherwise you'll have a hard time putting the drum back on.
Before putting the drum back, clean it out using a piece of (fine) sandpaper

Rebuild in reverse order
